[WATCH] pure xtc – “Old Wounds”

pure xtc never disappoints! The project from EXNATIONS drummer, Taylor Hughes, pure xtc effortlessly blends raw vulnerability into haunting electro-pop that would be sinful to not play during a night drive.

After the release of her debut EP, Nobody’s Home, last November, listeners have been buzzing about “Old Wounds” – a ripping open of the soul, if you will. Delving into the pains of a past hurt, “Old Wounds” offers a future love a vulnerability not met within modern relationships; a take it or leave it approach of sorts where only the strong-minded and empathetic can win our hearts in the end.

Brave as it is stunning, the track’s accompanying video is a hug within itself. Showcasing a diverse group of couples, the video sets to shine a light within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Hughes shared: “‘Old Wounds’ is easily the most personal song on the EP. It’s a love song about a woman by a woman and in my opinion there’s not enough of them out there. It hit me while my fiancé and I were searching for first dance songs. I really hope to help represent the LGBTQIA+ community because we need more visibility outside of Pride Month.”
