[LISTEN] Heavenward – “Wish”

If you’ve checked out our Most Anticipated Releases of 2022 list, you know we are dying for more Heavenward!

Formed in 2020 by Kamtin Mohager of Chain Gang of 1974, Heavenward has graced us with four killer singles so far, and the fifth, “Wish,” might just be his best yet.

Taken from his forthcoming debut EP, Staircase Music, dropping February 18 via Fever Ltd, “Wish” – and the entire Heavenward project as a whole – delves into more darker elements than Chain Gang listeners are used to. After departing alternative/shoegaze band, Teenage Wrist, in 2019, Mohager felt compelled to continue writing songs bathed in deeper emotions, aggression and noise, beautiful noise, giving fans all sides of the spectrum with both projects.

“‘Wish” feels like a song that has been buried in me for quite some time but needed the perfect moment to come out,” Mohager shared with Alt Press. “We all go through emotional ups and downs. The sad part about life is that even when you do find yourself coming out of a dark place, the human mind plays tricks on you and convinces your every being to begin worrying about something else. I felt that it was necessary for me to talk about those struggles because we all go through them.”
