The Most Anticipated Releases of 2022

Happy New Year! If you’re still trying to wrap your mind around the fact that it’s 2022 already, we’re right there with you. While 2021 was definitely a tumultuous year for multiple reasons, it goes without saying that music was pretty much the only thing that got us through it all. Whether you were dealing with personal issues or that thing that shall not be named, we feel you.

In times of strife and pressure, it’s always best to look forward and these upcoming releases have us so excited for what’s to come! Even if the new year isn’t as great as we are hoping, we know we’ll have some killer music to guide us through it.

Some of these releases have not been announced yet, but due to speculation and some clever teasing from the artists, we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing new releases from everyone listed, along with a few surprises along the way!

Bad SunsApocalypse Whenever

Bad Suns are set to release their fourth album, Apocalypse Whenever, on January 28! This album has been teased for the past two years, so needless to say, we are more than ready for this one! From the band’s signature alt-pop goodness to their hard-hitting ballads on all things heartbreak and existentialism, it looks like there won’t be a shortage of on-repeat goodness to start the year off right!

Tears For FearsThe Tipping Point

Eighties gods, Tears For Fears, return on February 25 to bring us The Tipping Point – the band’s first album in nearly eighteen years. While the duo made 80s magic with hits like “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and “Mad World,” it’s their newest material that will be turning heads.

Daytime TVNothing’s On, But Everybody’s Watching

We stumbled upon Daytime TV through an act of serendipity, it seems. Perfect timing, too! The band are set to release their debut album, Nothing’s On, But Everybody’s Watching, on February 25, and it’s only just the beginning for these guys. We’re so excited to see where it takes them.

Michelle BranchThe Trouble With Fever

Michelle Branch just graciously treated longtime fans to a re-recorded version of her 2001 debut, The Spirit Room, back in October to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary. While we do have a vinyl release for that to look forward to, we also have news of Branch’s next album, The Trouble With Fever, due out sometime this year! The singer posted a video of a vinyl test pressing on Instagram which had us all so freaking elated!

LIGHTS – TBA

LIGHTS boasted that she’s back in new single, “Prodigal Daughter” and damn is she killing it this album cycle! The new LIGHTS record should be chock full of girl power anthems and middle fingers and we are so here for it!

Camila CabelloFamilia

Camila Cabello gave fans a little taste of her upcoming third album, Familia, this past summer with “Don’t Go Yet.” The Latin-infused party anthem is only the beginning as the singer dives deeper into her Cuban roots for this album, making us Camilizers part of her familia.

Banks – TBA

The suspense is killing us, but Banks already knows that. The singer released “The Devil” back in June and “Skinnydipped” in August and fans have been craving more. We know an album is on the way, but the ‘waiting game’ is killing us.

FleurieSupertropicali

The whimsical Fleurie dropped the spectacular “Supertropicali” single back in October and the dreamy “Millennium Angel” a month after and we’ve been so excited for this next era! Set to a dream world of all things neon and candy-coated, the Supertropicali era shall be her best yet!

flor – TBA

flor have been teasing us for months about their upcoming third album on social media, and needless to say, we’re dying over here. The second that single drops, you know we’re going to be all over that!

Pale Waves – TBA

After last year’s release of sophomore record, Who Am I?, we honestly were not expecting another album so fast from Pale Waves, but the band took to social media on New Years Eve to give us a mini heart attack.

The New Division – TBA

The New Division started teasing material for his next release about a year ago, so the anticipation for something new is strong! We have a feeling it won’t be much longer, and hopefully the idea for a 10 year anniversary release of The Rookie is tied in somewhere along the way!

Heavenward – TBA

Heavenward came so unexpectedly last year, but that’s the beauty of music. The project of Kamtim Mohager of Chain Gang of 1974, Heavenward feels like music’s best kept secret. Working with former bandmates from Teenage Wrist, Mohager draws inspiration from influences like Catherine Wheel and Swervedriver to gift listeners an eargasm of noisy perfection. We hear an EP is on the way very soon. Count us in!

Olivver The Kid – TBA

Olivver The Kid never disappoints…well, except for when La Bouquet ended in 2021 but with the way this man crafts a song, he’s forgiven. We haven’t had an ØV EP since 2018 so the time is now for a new one. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long. We’ve been teased and we are ready!

Maggie Rogers – TBA

If you follow Maggie Rogers on social media, you’ve seen the singer chronical her album-making process in photos. Fans have asked and she has promised it will be delivered this year! Word on the street is that it is finished! Only time will tell, but we have a feeling it’ll be nothing short of magic.

Sasha Alex Sloan – TBA

Sasha Alex Sloan last graced us with her debut album, Only Child, over a year ago, but obviously we’re dying for more. The singer might be a little too modest about what it’s going to sound like, but we’d probably say the same thing if any of us made an album, so we feel her. Her relatable nature is why we love her so the fact that we’re about to get some more of that is quite thrilling.

WallowsTell Me That It’s Over

Wallows are set to release their sophomore record, Tell Me That It’s Over, sometime this year and first single, “I Don’t Want To Talk” was the perfect teaser to get us pumped up for this next era! Bring it on, boys!

Aly & AJA touch of the beat (Deluxe)

Aly & AJ may have recently released their critically acclaimed record, A touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun, last May, but a deluxe edition is on the way and we couldn’t be more excited! It’ll be like discovering the album all over again.

Taylor Swift – TBA

We just know Taylor Swift is going to release something this year. We can feel it. With the re-recording of her albums going down, we’re not sure which is next but we’re thinking either 1989 (Taylor’s Version) or Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Whatever she decides, we’re here for it all.
