[Pick Of The Week] Lydia Kaseta – “Hate The Day”

Los Angeles-based indie/folk artist, Lydia Kaseta, first dazzled us last month with her gorgeous track, “The Other Side.” If you loved that, be prepared to bawl your eyes out to new track, “Hate The Day,” – the title track off of her forthcoming EP.

“Hate The Day” is a heartwrenchingly honest take on unrequited love and the battle of trying to let go of that person who has occupied your heart. When I say this one hit me right in the feels, I’m not lying. Reminiscent of an Olivia Rodrigo song set to the aesthetics of Taylor Swift’s folklore, “Hate The Day” is unforgettable as it is cathartic.

“‘Hate The Day’ captures the feeling of letting go of someone you know you can’t hold on to any longer. Influenced by a personal story of falling for another songwriter who broke my heart, I’d hold on to the lyrics he’d write in his songs, wondering if they were messages to me. Knowing that one day, his songs about love or heartbreak would be messages meant for someone else. This song is my response to that time in our lives using my own lyrics to speak through.”
