[WATCH] Honestly – “Night Life”

Indie-pop duo, Honestly – comprised of Eric Canto and Dalton Winters – are on the brink of a new era! After re-releasing their 2020 debut album, Inside Your Eyes, Without You Beside Me, with an extended version in August 2021, the duo are back for more with new EP, Dancing After Dark, on August 26!

Our first taste of the new Honestly era is first single, “Night Life.” Delving into being out and about when you’re in the midst of depression, “Night Life” juxtaposes the notions of being alone in a crowded room with being in your bedroom; the comfort of each location entirely dependent on the person. “I want to be alone so badly,” a constant sentiment expressed throughout the track as Canto’s mind runs rampant in rooms where the light is the dimmest while the track’s accompanying video – directed by carlnard – takes viewers on that journey with the duo around New York City’s vibrant nightlife.

“‘Night Life’ is about feeling the same escape in a night club as you would in your bedroom. I found it very ironic because one is complete isolation and the other is being in the most crowded room. Somehow for a moment they both mean the same thing to you. I was thinking of using them both as to cope with stressors/depression,” shared Canto. “If they were to be personified you’d probably say they both accept you. They’re seemingly polar opposites but they’re both an outlet for escape. They’re both ‘night life.'”
