[Pick Of The Week] joan – “nervous”

We’re calling it right now: the most anticipated album of 2023 is without a doubt joan’s debut album, superglue!

After unleashing their super-catchy, “don’t wanna be your friend” and “flowers,” joan have unveiled new gem, “nervous,” today for your listening pleasure!

“nervous” takes listeners on a nostalgic journey back to the schoolyard as first crushes are in bloom. First infatuation often stirs a lot of emotions, with anxiety being the number one symptom! In true joan fashion, the duo manage to accurately depict the thrilling yet unsettling feeling of having your first crush and all that may entail set to a soundtrack of pop goodness for days!

“We wrote this song with the lovely Emily Falvey of Nashville and Jonathan Capeci from Nightly, and the second we all walked into the room together there was immediate chemistry between us,” shared the band. “We wanted to get as close to the emotion of a sort of school-like love story, where you constantly want to be around them but you also literally feel like you’re going to throw up because you’re so… nervous (wink), and you don’t want to say the wrong thing around them. It’s such a cool and distinct feeling, we hope this song takes you back to that place.”

Pre-order superglue, out April 19, here!
