Our favorite magical indie-pop unicorn, Fleurie, has graced us with yet another gift today with her video for “R U O.K.?” from her upcoming Portals: The B-Sides EP, out on November 15!
“R U O.K.?” explores the notion of being a part of the last generation who grew up without technology to being thrown in the thick of it later on while delving into the negative impact of social media and the mental health struggles a simple screen can bring. With lyrics like, “Show them my best side, paint a mystery,” the singer portrays just how unhealthy all of this can really be.
Sonically, it’s probably one of Fleurie’s best tracks to date. Synthy, futuristic yet nostalgic, with a taste of realism, “R U O.K.?” is guaranteed to be a new fan favorite!
“‘R U O.K.?’ is an ode to life in the digital age. I’m a ’90s baby and experienced a relatively technology-free childhood. I often wonder how deep the negative impact of screens and social media has on people born 10, 15, 20 years after me…and are they O.K….or are we just sitting back, watching the decline of a society’s mental and emotional health?”
