[Song Of The Day] joan – “Stop and Stare”

To fall in love with Little Rock, AR alt-pop duo, joan, isn’t hard. One listen to their infectious 80s/early 90s-inspired gems and you’ll be swooning for days, wishing John Cusack will stand outside your house with a boombox blasting “Love Somebody Like You” at full volume. Trust us on this one.

After making their debut with “Take Me On” in early 2017, the duo – comprised of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford – were unstoppable, releasing tracks throughout the year perfect for prom nights and road trips. At long last, the band has unleashed their debut EP, Portra, featuring the aforementioned “Take Me On” (along with a much-appreciated chilled down version), “Love Somebody Like You,” “Tokyo,” “I Loved You First,” and new track, “Stop and Stare.”

Like their other releases, “Stop and Stare” offers just enough synthpop goodness to get any new listener hooked while images of sugarplums and your crush dance around your heads. Not mad.

In just a short amount of time, joan have managed to gain critical acclaim (especially from yours truly) along with some radio traction in Europe. Stay tuned for more to come throughout 2018 including a US tour this October.
