[Pick Of The Week] BARKLEY – “3AM”

Toronto-born LA transplant, BARKLEY – the moniker from artist Susie Yankou – identifies with the outsiders, so it was a no-brainer that we had to feature this girl in some way. Like our editor, the singer – being half Greek – grew up in a Greek neighborhood in Toronto but never fully felt immersed in its culture. But all of that adversity and otherness fueled her edgy, indie-pop sound that we are sure is bound to turn some heads.

With her debut single, “3AM,” released today via Atlantic Records, BARKLEY is on the edge of glory as her unapologetically dysfunctional views on life and love turn poetic, leaving listeners with a sense of clarity and community as the thoughts we’ve all harbored come full circle to represent a sentiment quite universal to this generation.

A self-proclaimed “cynical romantic,” BARKLEY takes the notion of “3AM” to new heights, making all of those late night calls and texts something to brush off. Dwell no more, loves! Fans of Billie Eilish, Carly Rae Jepsen and Dua Lipa, rejoice! There’s a new gal in town to obsess over!
