[LISTEN] Jesse D’Kora – “You Might Not Be”

Jesse D’Kora is back with his monthly single release and it just keeps getting better. This month’s offering, “You Might Not Be” is a definite change from the singer’s previous material.

Inspired by a documentary on The Talking Heads, “You Might Not Be” takes on a darker approach, incorporating elements of Gypsy & The Cat (oh the glory!) meets influences of the past. Lyrically, a conversation with a past, younger self comes into play as one focuses on regrets and what he could have done differently.

“Lyrically it’s inspired, like many of my other songs, about getting older, particularly the context is in view of having a conversation with a younger version of yourself,” shared D’Kora. “Often it’s easy to focus on the regrets and the mistakes and think how you would do things differently if it all could be redone, but ultimately without the mistakes the knowledge to do what’s right so we are ultimately bound to follow the same path.”
