[WATCH] The Aces – “Daydream”

It’s no secret that Utah alt-pop band, The Aces, are basically queens here at TDL. The anticipation of the release of their forthcoming sophomore record is killing us, and we’re pretty sure it’s going to knock everything release so far in 2020 out of the park.

Returning to the music scene since 2018’s When My Heart Felt Volcanic, the band’s new release, “Daydream,” is classic Aces at its best and the track’s accompanying video encapsulates the notions of girl power and friendship in a way you’ll probably want to recreate for yourself at some point.

Written and directed by drummer, Alisa Ramirez, the video for “Daydream” captures the essence of being young and wild, reminiscent of the 1995 cult classic, Now and Then, but with more mature elements, of course.

“Doing an on-the-nose love story for ‘Daydream’ just didn’t feel right,” Alisa shared. “The energy of the song is so nostalgic and free, so we wanted to make something that mirrored being young and wild.”

“People are separated right now, and they’re not able to be together,” singer Cristal Ramirez explained. “The song now has a new meaning. We’re all daydreaming about those good times when we were together and when we’ll finally get to be together when this is over…it’s so weirdly fitting.”
