[WATCH] LIGHTS – “Prodigal Daughter”

Let’s just take a minute to think about the fact that it has been four years since LIGHTS last dropped a full-length album. Now that you’ve processed that information, we are happy to share that our girl is back – she said so herself – and ready to take over your headspace with new track, “Prodigal Daughter.”

“Prodigal Daughter” is a bop if we do say so ourselves. Building off of her expansive and more mature sound from 2020’s Dead End EP with buddy, MYTH, “Prodigal Daughter” is an anthem for those who have risen from the ashes; a self-discovery of sorts as newfound confidence blossoms and past hurts are put behind you. The track’s accompanying video captures that essence beautifully, giving off some serious BANKS meets Britney Spears snake vibes!

“‘Prodigal Daughter’ is about stripping away all the deep-seated, oppressive expectations society and religion can place on you, in order to find out what you really want out of your life. Musically, the song is dynamic and wild; beautifully gentle at times and aggressive at others, representing the journey. Ultimately this is a banger about finding yourself.”

LIGHTS has also revealed The Clinic – a new side story of her beloved comic Skin&Earth written and illustrated by LIGHTS. You can read a snippet of the first six pages here!

“Prodigal Daughter” is set to be featured on the singer’s forthcoming fifth studio album, due in 2022!
