We all know Olivia Rodrigo is destined to take over the world – and we’d gladly let her – but can we just talk about how new single, “deja vu” is only her second single and she’s already making so many monumental waves within the music industry? It’s also no secret that she’s a super hardcore Swiftie and you can tell Tayor Swift is a major inspiration to her being that Rodrigo’s bridges have the capacity of take us for the fucking ride of our lives while we’re in our damn feelings…and I know that’s not just me!
“deja vu” follows Rodrigo’s bombastic debut single, “drivers license,” that came out earlier this year. Her storytelling is compelling – pulling you in with each verse, making you wonder what truth bomb she’ll drop next. With enchanting chants (say that 6 times) and melodies reminiscent of Lorde and our darling Swift, “deja vu” and it’s lovely accompanying video set out to tell the tale of a dude with a type and no originality. Been there, done that.
Rodrigo recently announced the release of her debut album due out May 21 and needless to say, it feels like the entire world is anticipating this! Title, album art, and tracklisting to be announced soon.
