[Pick Of The Week] The 1975 – “Give Yourself A Try”

Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday The 1975 were getting ready to release 2016’s I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It? Yet here we here two years later with a brand new track, “Give Yourself A Try,” from their upcoming release, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, and with any new release comes excitement and intrigue from all angles.

So we were told that the band’s next album would be called Music For Cars, but as any creative endeavors go, it looks like that may or may not be the case – whether it may be coming later or scratched off the drawing board completely is another question. However, the band announced today on BBC 1 Radio that they will be releasing two new albums over the course of the year, the first being A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships due out this October, with another, Notes on a Conditional Form, out in May 2019. Touring will commence in January 2019. Whatever they decide, we’re 100% ready for this new era! Might we also add that their record titles have always been nothing short of thought-provoking and fresh?!

“Give Yourself A Try” is a refreshing take on growing the fuck up in the midst of a youth renaissance where it seems like everyone you know (even as you’re pushing 30) seems to be stuck in an endless cycle of meaninglessness; a refusal of sorts to take responsibility. Well done, boys!

With an electro guitar-driven backbone to the track, “Give Yourself A Try” demonstrates all the reasons why fans have been swooning over this band for the past six years. Get ready, fam. It’s about to get really interesting now!
