[Pick Of The Week] Delorentos – “In Darkness We Feel Our Way”

Meet Delorentos: an independent alternative and lovers of (almost) all Mexican food Dublin-based fourpiece. The band has been lucky enough to embark on a trip that has led them to play massive shows in their lovely Ireland from playing to sold-out music festivals in my lovely hometown in Monterrey, Mexico.

Currently promoting their fifth and newest album, True Surrender, Delorentos have been open about the real struggle that this album represented for them. While on tour in the autumn of 2015 the band were lent a small studio in a vineyard in Northern Spain where they recorded 15 songs that were meant to create their new album but, upon returning home, found out they weren’t happy with how the songs reflected the band’s current creative space.

They realized they were looking for more soul, more honesty, and a level of openness and intimacy that they’d never felt comfortable revealing before, so they began to question their way of writing and their dynamic as they continued to worked on it until they felt it was right. On April 27 this year, True Surrender was finally out for the world to hear.

“In Darkness We Feel Our Way” feels like the right song to embody the whole concept and goal that the band was trying to achieve with their new album. Lyrics are so relatable and, at a point, comforting, and it certainly feels like the emblematic track out of them all. We love it because of the sense of hope it comes with while you’re listening to it.

“Feel it, don’t care what they say, in darkness we feel our way…”

 True Surrender is out now.
