LA indie-pop band, The Strike, have returned with another stunner for your New Music Friday!
New track, “Backslide,” is a dreamy, synth-soaked gem that belongs on every fall playlist going forward.
Delving into the relationships we should leave behind while not being able to fight the chemistry, “Backslide” is an anthem for those struggling with the emotional push/pull dynamics of something you know you should let go of.
“Sometimes the people we are drawn to the most aren’t necessarily the right people for us in the long run,” the band shares. “It can be tough to ignore the chemistry and make the rational decision to move on. Even if we do move on, that connection often creates a repeated cycle of breaking up and getting back together. ‘Backslide’ speaks to this dilemma. The song captures how hard it is to actually walk away for good when old feelings keep pulling you back over and over again. Time keeps moving, but nothing really changes. You’re still answering the call and still lying to yourself that this time might be different.”
