[LISTEN] Honestly – “Let This Be Love”

We told you August would be Honestly month here at TDL and we meant it!

After releasing new single, “Night Life,” just a week ago, the alt-pop duo have returned with “Let This Be Love” – the next track taken from their upcoming EP, Dancing After Dark, out on August 26.

Taking on more of a nostalgic pop/punk vibe, “LTBL” is a keeper for fans of Daytime TV and Pale Waves. Written from the perspective of watching two friends in a situationship fall apart and then back together, the track delves into wanting more and saying so while opening up a dialogue about those relationships that only seem to flourish in party scenes.

“Let This Be Love’ came about after observing a relationship between two friends of ours,” shared singer Eric Canto. “They would always hook up and seemingly be a unit in public, at parties, at local bars, etc. It was still casual though. It was rumored that the boy got very into her and wanted more, and she denied him, having to remind him of what they were and what they weren’t. I don’t know if that’s true but I turned into a greater story from the boy’s perspective. A story about wanting more from an inevitably transient relationship that seems to only flourish in public and party scenes.”
