[REVIEW] Lostboycrow – ‘Traveler: The Third Legend’

There are those who emulate, and then there are those who just do. With the release of Traveler: The Third Legend, Lostboycrow continues to prove what a powerhouse he truly is. The final installment from the singer’s three-part album series, Traveler: The Third Legend takes on a deeper approach than the previous releases while building upon his signature sound of pop-tinged R&B, further proving that this is only the beginning.

Opening with “Scorpio,” listeners are transported into a movie scene, preferably 2001’s Save The Last Dance, where it’s the early stages of love and the music takes over, turning a late-night date into something more.

EP highlight, “I’m A Sailor Not A Salesman,” – co-written and produced by flor’s Dylan Bauld and Zach Grace – dives into the epitome of LBC; how “the idea that who we are and are becoming is a direction leading us to far greater places than any other pursuit.” If everyone operated this way, we’d be living in a much better place.

“Cindy At The Window” is an electro/R&B tinged lullaby while “Church With No Ceiling” blew us away with its Justin Timberlake-esque futuristic vibes. Delving into a rather controversial topic, LBC shares his views on religion and how lack thereof bares no blame on who you are as a person if you carry yourself with dignified intentions and a good heart. The track, which is proving to be one of our favorites, is a re-definition of spirituality and how belief in yourself and others can be more powerful than anything.

Ending our journey is the haunting “River Of Forgetfulness” – proving yet again that Lostboycrow is more than just a moniker. It’s a love affair with new beginnings, one’s heritage and the sounds that reflect it all in the singer’s mind. Though soul-bearing throughout Traveler, LBC is a movement still shrouded in mystery; a mystery we hope to uncover within future releases.
