[Pick Of The Week] BAXTR – “In Pop We Trust”

We cannot think of a better title of a song than “In Pop We Trust.” In fact, that could have been an alternate blog name for us here at TDL! Fittingly, our girls BAXTR are releasing it as their fourth single, and we can’t help falling in love with them more for it.

This London trio are anything but your ordinary band. Adding tons of color to their sound, you don’t even need to watch a video of theirs to pick up on their vibrancy, and let’s face it – your life would be pretty boring without them! “In Pop We Trust” is already a “bubblegrunge” gem but the track’s accompanying video is the icing on the cake.

A fuzzy pink ode to their first love, pop music, “In Pop We Trust” shall become a new anthem for pop fans around the globe as we all shout there is “no such thing as a guilty pleasure!”

“Pop has brought me free joy in my darkest moments and is a time machine to some of the best days of my life. We all love rock, metal, jazz… you name it… but pop music is where our band’s friendships started, and it ended up being the thing that really pulled us three towards each other, through the pandemic and out the other side,” shared singer/guitarist Floss Mackintosh. “It felt only right to honour that in song; tipping our hats to the music we love, with a little tongue in cheek subversion. We wanted our 4th single to feel like our statement piece; something that represented the core of what BAXTR is; just 3 nerdy mates who like to goof about and make loud noises. To me, it feels as if this song is our theme tune. After the year we’ve all had, now more than ever I think we should all be reveling in the things that truly bring us bliss. If pop music does that for you… then crank this song!”
