[LISTEN] The New Twentys – “Rush”

London trio, The New Twentys, are back with a new indie-pop gem for your listening pleasure!

New track, “Rush,” is chock full of grit and wisdom with a rather infectious alternative meets indie hook that is sure to be stuck in your head for days. Inspired by the notion of how people try to fill the voids in their lives with materialism, “Rush” takes on the perspective of an older person sharing advice on how not to fall into the same trap they once did. If anything, “Rush” serves as a reminder to focus on what’s really important and to enjoy the ride along the way.

“’Rush’ is a song about people trying to fill the void in their lives with materialism. A lot of us are already tired and bored in our twenties and will do anything to find the thing that gives us that ‘rush of blood to the head,’ the thing that makes us feel alive,” shared the band. “The song is written from the perspective of an older person who is trying to convince a younger person not to fall into the same trappings they fell into. It is a warning that if they become a slave to money they will be left unfulfilled, perhaps because of the passions they had to sacrifice to get there or the meaninglessness of an existence defined by the things you own. We, and probably our generation as a whole, often expect everything to be immediate and we struggle to enjoy the journey and keep sight of what is truly important, so we wrote ourselves a song to make sure we stay on track.”
