[LISTEN] Stay Lunar – “Hello Friend”

Hot off of their last release, “Immediately,” UK indie-pop band, Stay Lunar, have returned with yet another gem to fall madly in love with.

“Hello Friend” is a special one and a call to arms of sorts for the band. It’s no secret that mental health issues can weigh you down, but it all comes down to how you frame it. “Hello Friend” portrays the demons we all know as anxiety and depression as old friends, depicting them in such a way that if we view them as allies and look deeper into their purpose, we’ll find better ways to cope and learn from our struggles.

“Hello Friend” is the first track the band recorded entirely at home due to Covid restrictions. Fitting considering this one really does hit home.

“‘Hello Friend’ is a song that dives into the struggles of anxiety and depression, but with a colourful and optimistic spin,” shared lyricist Harry Leigh. “The lyrics attempt to personify these struggles, by imagining they are an old friend that is looking out for me. The idea that anxiety is more of a friend than an enemy, helped me better understand myself, and how we all need others to get by – especially during a pandemic.”
