[LISTEN] Javi Jimenez – “HSL”

We didn’t have to wait very long for a new track from indie-pop singer/songwriter, Javi Jimenez. The Costa Rica-based singer returns today with new dreamy track, “HSL,” and it belongs on every playlist until the end of time!

A bit more personal that his previous releases, “HSL” is a nostalgia-driven track about the joy and magic of first loves set to be featured on Jimenez’s upcoming debut EP. Think LANY’s “It Was Love” mixed with a bit of Honestly’s “Inside Your Eyes.” Yup, it goes there.

“‘HSL stands for High School Love and it’s the first song I’ve written which I can say is 100% real. No filler, no little made up clever parts, all real experience. I don’t consider it a love song or heartbreak song, but rather a calm look back at a relationship that literally felt like magic. There’s nothing quite like your first love and your first kiss, it’s magical. This song feels like daydreaming thinking about the past, without any hard feelings, without wishing to get back together or even regret, it feels like I’m just smiling and remembering as I stare off into the sunset, glad and grateful that it happened and that I got to live that magic with that person. Do you believe in magic?
