Song Of The Day: “High” – Zella Day

After discovering 20 year-old Zella Day on iTunes last fall, I have been anticipating her debut LP, Kicker, out June 2. This week, the Arizona-born songstress released a “holy-shit-this-is-fucking-epic” teaser track, “High,” off of the highly-anticipated Kicker, and if any song makes me want to go out and buy an album, (not to mention start fires in the middle of the desert) it’s this one.

Sure, she gets the “happier Lana Del Rey” thing all the time, but it’s hard not to bring that into play. As brooding as Del Rey is, Day shines with exuberance and fire in tracks like hit single, “Hypnotic,” “Sweet Ophelia,” and of course, today’s Song Of The Day. Enjoy.
