[REVIEW] The Ready Set – ‘V1’ EP

It’s been 8 years since The Ready Set’s first label release, I’m Alive, I’m Dreaming, and while we may still play a couple of songs from it on our #throwback playlists, time has done its thing and today we finally get to hear what Jordan’s been working on since the release of his last album, I Will Be Nothing Without Your Love in 2016.

V1 is a 6-track EP that screams major summer vibes and projects the dynamism of Jordan as a musician and songwriter. Opening track, “No Halos,” is a song that I can totally hear playing at parties and clubs, foot-tap and dance worthy, which is the main mood of the whole EP.

“I didn’t really plan a specific direction for this EP, I just wanted to take my time to evaluate what felt genuine while I was writing and producing…” Jordan shared with Billboard.

Right in the middle of the EP, we find radio-friendly tune “Real” which dives in the topic of letting go of a crush or relationship that it’s not worth it because, well, the title itself says it, the feeling isn’t real.

“I don’t know who’s driving now, I find my way to you somehow…”

Judging by the title, you might think that “Let U Go” is a slow-paced song but actually, it’s the opposite. A personal favorite, this track is an absolute lift-me up bop that leads to nostalgic track, “Life In Pink.

Consistent, energetic and definitely every electro-pop lover’s dream, The Ready Set has come back to stay and V1 is an EP that we’ll definitely be spinning for the rest of the year.
