[Pick Of The Week] Copperfox – “War Horse”

Dreamy psych-pop quartet, Copperfox, hail from Nashville, TN but began in Portland, OR. Often compared to the likes of Mazzy Star and Band of Horses, the band – comprised of Lisa Garcia, Rory Mohon, Andrew Bottini and Stephanie Kincheloe – are gearing up for the release of their upcoming EP, Haunts, on February 5, featuring today’s well-deserved Pick Of The Week, “War Horse.” Mastered by Grammy award-winning mastering engineer, Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Beck, Arctic Monkeys), Haunts specializes in atmospheric sensibilities while relying on synthesizers and drum machines to evoke those epic night-drive feels.

Singer Lisa Garcia on “War Horse”

“My roots are in the American Southwest so I naturally envisioned that this song takes place in the desert in a sort of wild west scenario. Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey was on my mind a lot while writing this EP. This particular song was about that moment when the hero transitions into the unknown — just when fear and doubt set in, a helper appears.”
