[LISTEN] The Academic – “Northern Boy”

The Academic are a four-piece indie-rock band from Mullingar, Ireland. As featured on our Bands To Fall In Love With This Summer post from a couple months ago, these guys are sure going to take the world by storm, and their sound is pretty much what the music industry needs now.

It’s safe to say that 2015 has treated these guys well – from opening shows for bands such as Twenty One Pilots, Kodaline to Catfish and The Bottlemen while landing a spot on the INDIEPENDANCE Music & Arts Festival to embarking onto some of their very first headlining tour dates. This band got me hooked since I first listened to their single “Different” back when it was released earlier this year, but yesterday, the Mullingar guys pleased us with another foot-tapping song.

“Northern Boy” is made up of a fancy beat that’ll keep you tapping your toes and includes well-thought lyrics. Sure the band’s making up their signature sound which, to me, is very refreshing and definitely one to keep under your radar.

“Don’t be afraid to love, and love again…”
