[PREMIERE] MONACO – “Cover Girl”

Just in time for your 2020 festivities, MONACO return with new surprise track, “Cover Girl!” Needless to say, you guys don’t want to miss out on this one!

Like most MONACO tracks, “Cover Girl” was inspired by singer Daniel Davis’s wife all with a heartwarming tale of when the two made their love official. Chock full of the band’s signature indie-pop hooks, this track takes MONACO’s sound to a whole new level, sonically, with remnants of ’80s rock bands like Def Leppard, Toto, and Scorpions running wild throughout the entire track. It will forever be an honor to premiere anything from these guys so get your New Years Eve playlists ready because this one is going to rule your 2020!

“What inspired the song ‘Cover Girl’ was the emotions I felt when I first met my wife; the rush of emotions, the feeling of a love that is brand new,” shared Davis.

“What made it different this time was how it felt like I waited my whole life for this singular moment. Then I began to feel utterly terrified. We just made it official and the next day I was excited, happy, yet terrified. Had I made a mistake? How can it feel like destiny, and yet I feel so scared? I was more of whether or not my heart would get broken again. It’s one thing to believe your existence is enough, but what about if you’re enough for someone else? For her? She made me believe that I am enough. This song is full of personal references…like my visit to see her, our time spent in San Francisco and me not wanting to go back home to LA. This song is edgy, energetic, and unapologetically Def Leppard.”

  1. Utterly amazing! To capture the sound of an era without imitating, and yet keep it relevant for current audiences. This truly puts art back in music. No cookie cutter sound but creating something new that can bridge generations. Well done!
