[Pick Of The Week] Javi Jimenez – “Like Me Better”

Indie-pop artist, Javi Jimenez, is back with new track, “Like Me Better,” reminding listeners that there’s more to Jimenez than his signature pop love songs.

“Like Me Better” is a refreshing take on one’s loyalty to personal ideals and moral standards. With a tongue-in-cheek attitude towards the music industry and “the scene,” the track delves into navigating attempting to make friends and connections within the industry, only to be reminded that there’s no better peace than doing your own thing on your own terms. If TDL had a theme song, this would be it!

“Painting your nails doesn’t make you a feminist, and snorting cocaine doesn’t make you an artist.”

“Like Me Better” is the follow up to spring release, “Crash & Burn.” Stay tuned for more to come!

“I didn’t really set out to write a ‘diss track’, and wanted to make the song’s core meaning actually a hopeful and uplifting kind of thing, so I focused more on the self-discovery journey and the feelings you overcome when you finally understand that not everyone is meant to stay in your life, and you don’t need to be friends with everyone. This was a hard pill to swallow for me, being in an industry that rewards networking. I had to learn to be OK with having fewer acquaintances, and being OK with losing potential opportunities in order to not sacrifice my own moral standards. The upside is that I like myself way better now that I did this.”
