[LISTEN] Transviolet & Janelle Kroll – “Good Girl Trauma”

Every girl needs a track that just screams “FUCK YES” and then some. “Good Girl Trauma” – the killer collaboration between Transviolet and Janelle Kroll is that song. Trust me.

Sonically reminiscent of Banks meets Lana Del Rey, “Good Girl Trauma” is an anthem for anyone who has bit their tongue so long to the point of drawing blood. For the reformed people-pleasers, the ones who felt they had to be palatable to be liked, for the ones who fell victim to Good Girl Syndrome: your empowering anthem awaits! The take-no-shit mantra here is strong and we are so here for it!

“It’s about how it feels to bite your tongue when you really want to scream, how it feels to nervously laugh or politely smile when you really want to tell someone to fuck off,” shared Transviolet in an Instagram post.

“I think a lot of us grow up hearing ‘funny’ family stories about ourselves, and as we get older (and go to therapy) we realize they are actually pretty heartbreaking. We wrote ‘Good Girl Trauma’ about ‘Good Girl Syndrome,’ which is a really cute name for being socially conditioned into having no boundaries, and appeasing everyone around you in order to feel safe and loved. The song not only touches on what it’s like to have Good Girl Trauma, but the frustration that comes with recognizing the pattern, yet struggling to break free of it. I’m healing, but it’s a long, windy road full of many ups and downs. Sometimes I still catch myself biting my tongue, faking a smile, or nervously laughing in order to make other people comfortable. Sometimes disappointing or upsetting others still feels like a life or death situation. Hope this song finds the other ‘good girls’ out there. You deserved so much better.”
