[LISTEN] Peony – “Low Low Low”

Newcastle, UK duo, Peony – comprised of guitarist/vocalist William Rees and Ryan Gray – have just unveiled their new single “Low Low Low” and it is not one to be missed!

Influenced by Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey and Pixies, Peony may be placed in the genre of alternative rock, but their backstory has a certain softness, indicated by their band name.

As their Instagram bio states, “Hard music made by soft people,” William resides in mental health work with children while Ryan has studied psychology while conducting his own research on the effect of musical experiences and brain function. Together, they hope that sharing their vulnerability helps listeners feel less alone and supported.

“‘Low Low Low’ explores the process of escaping from the identity we are given by our family and early environment. It charts a person’s struggle to nurture and develop their true self – ‘I know my choice is sink or swim the rain wall.’”
