Hailing from Egypt, As We Sleep is an alternative/shoegaze duo – comprised of Nourhan Fayed and Mohamed Rajab – that (yes, we’re gonna say it) you probably shouldn’t sleep on. Fans of Men I Trust, Paramore and Low: lock in on this duo!
The band describes themselves as living somewhere between waking life and sleep, exploring the intricacies of one’s subconscious while everything begins to rise up to the surface.
Newest track, “Rest,” offers listeners a calming reassurance that there’s plenty of time to be and do all that you’ve dreamed. Taking a breather is far more productive than worrying about lost time.
“I think my favorite part of ‘Rest’ lyrically is the second verse, specifically, ‘Plead with time to crawl,” shares Fayed. “I’ve always been the sort of person to feel like I have to do everything and be everything and there isn’t enough time in one lifetime for me. This track explains that idea.”
