[WATCH] Pale Waves – “Television Romance”

Pale Waves are the newest rising stars hailing from Manchester, one of the music capitals of the UK. Surely, part of it thanks to The 1975 who took them under their wings and record label. However, their infectious retro synthpop is a fitting soundtrack to the recent 80-90’s inspired pop culture revival.

Today, the quartet have dropped the long awaited music video for brand new single, “Television Romance” – directed by no one else than Matthew Healy and long-time visuals collaborator of The 1975, Samuel Burgess-Johnson. Set in what could easily be some grandparent’s high-rise flat, we get to see the band perform as minimalist stills of the surroundings pop up. A visually pleasing world, they’ve created here. We also rightfully question what in the end might be a clue for future reference: the neighbor flat’s pink lights…artistic collision of two separate bands’ world, maybe?

The only set back is how strongly the track itself resembles Pale Waves’ previous single, “There’s A Honey.” You can tell it apart, but playing them back to back makes it all a bit repetitive. Hopefully, upcoming songs will reveal more hidden talent.
