Des Moines has some budding indie-rock royalty on their hands. After discovering the spellbindingly-beautiful sounds of Annalibera this past winter, we’ve been sharing their debut, Nevermind I Love You, with anyone willing to listen. Comprised of vocalist Anna Gebhardt, guitarist Ryan Stier, bassist Phil Young and Nicholas Naioti on drums, the Iowa four-piece are self-releasing a 3-song digital EP titled, L.I.A.R., on June 16, which we are honored to premiere here at The Daily Listening!
Inspired by Gebhardt’s farm-life upbringing in Nebraska, the EP incorporates free-spirited folk-styling differing from the sound of Nevermind I Love You, though being recorded during the same session. Emerging with its own cohesive style and theme, L.I.A.R. employs a semi-country-tinged twang-pop playfulness sure to win over any listener.
