[Song Of The Day] Michelle Branch – “Hopeless Romantic”

It has been 7 years since Michelle Branch released her country/pop EP, Everything Comes and Goes – 14 years if you’re counting her last solo record, Hotel Paper, in 2003 – so to say that I’m excited would have to be an understatement.

My love affair with music all started with Michelle’s debut album, The Spirit Room, in 2001 so now that the singer has gotten back to her pop/rock roots in new single, “Hopeless Romantic,” with the help of The Black KeysPatrick Carney, I think it’s safe to say that this is going to be the record of the year for me. Not to mention that just the mere thought of finally being able to see her live has me feeling like a tween again.

“Hopeless Romantic” gives off a nostalgic flare paired flawlessly with any Branch track of the past while bits and pieces give off a Lana Del Rey vibe, bringing it back to modern-day indie/alternative. Is it April 7 yet?
