[REVIEW] Julian Lamadrid – ‘Romans’

Julian Lamadrid recently released his EP Romans and it’s not one to miss!

Featuring 7 tracks produced, composed and written by Lamadrid, Romans is a story about simultaneously feeling everything and nothing at all; feeling both warm and cold and calling it love.

The EP begins with a declaration of falling sadly in love while focusing solely on the hopeless realities of love. He narrates the emptiness and loneliness that derives from the absence of someone you can not live without.

Taking Romans to a winter night, “Warm” is the easy-going track that eases the heartbreak. Highlighting the tender and romantic parts of love, Lamadrid details all the sleepless nights and the potent desire for something real. Moving the EP to another season, he reflects on being miles away, still stuck with the pain in “Can’t Face It.”

Slowing it down again with a beautiful interlude, “Fool” is a set of melodious harmonies interlocked, created to thoughtfully incite a compelling emotional response. Further displaying the versatility in his voice, “Punks” showcases his sound in a way that is uniquely softer than the rest.

Finishing the record boldly, “Go” is a powerful declaration. Effortlessly tying all the unanswered pieces of the EP together, Lamadrid looks to the future – hoping, dreaming, and perhaps deciding to give love a break.
