[Playlist] The Chaotic Empty

The Chaotic Empty is a killer title if I do say so myself. There needs to be a band or even a book out there with that name. Someone make this happen!

A lot of songs have come out within the past week with the title of “Empty” – from Garbage to PVRIS – even just the theme itself is a heavy subject and one that often gets overlooked. I’ve been feeling quite empty myself for almost a year now. If it wasn’t for this site, I don’t know who I’d be.

Today’s playlist focuses on those thoughts of emptiness and abandon; when it feels like your world is turned upside down and there’s no way to revive what you have lost. Garbage starts off our journey with their newly released gem; opening lines of, “I’ve been feeling so frustrated / I’ll never be as great as I want to be” mirror my own thoughts in this industry while “Lions” by Coasts ends their track with the perfectly worded, “…& I will bathe in the mess / Discover my heart from the depth of my chest.”

PVRIS closes us out with their track, “Empty,” off of their new White Noise deluxe edition that harbors resentment for the self yet deep down you know she’s trying.
