[Playlist] Pity Party

We’ve all held our own personal pity parties from time to time and if you say you haven’t you are lying to yourself, boo. I tend to get down on myself a lot. I’m human. Sue me. Today’s playlist is a pity party sob fest brought to you by yours truly.

Starting off with Melanie Martinez‘s “Pity Party,” we are brought back to this past weekend when I celebrated a birthday and pathetically cried myself to sleep at night. Just let me have my feelings, okay?! Once we get to DWNTWN‘s “Blankets,” I’m sure you’ll be feeling all the feels too as singer Jamie Leffler whispers, “I’m lying on my own/ My fucking hands are cold / I’ll escape the loneliness but I didn’t ask for this / So keep my blankets on/ Figure out where I went wrong.” Things only get sadder from then on with Tribe Society‘s “Pain Told Love,” an anthem I’ve been sobbing to all summer, and closing track, “Waiting For a Friend” by The Pretty Reckless. It seems the only beacon of hope is Leitbur‘s “Think of Tomorrow,” as the chorus goes, “If you’re hollow, think of tomorrow.” Some hope is better than none, right?
