[Playlist] Dora’s Top Tracks of 2015

2015 has been another great year for music. We got the chance to hear so many amazing albums, I can’t even count them on two hands! We’ve also been very spoiled with worldwide hits from already familiar and new up and coming artists – exciting tunes were released in my beloved rock scene as well.

Listening to the radio gives me headaches usually, and it wasn’t different this year either. Luckily, we still have artists like Florence & the Machine, CHVRCHES, Hurts, and Foals to bring alternative yet still popular tunes into the never ending garbage. The return of guitars to the airwaves, thanks to All Time Low, Nothing But Thieves, and 5 Seconds of Summer (mentioning them, because it is quite surreal to regularly hear their music on the radio in my country), was like a breath of fresh air. You don’t know how much it’s been missed until you hear it again, then you crave it because it’s different. I really hope the new year will be even better in this case, so bands like Don Broco and Lower Than Atlantis can also expand their popularity worldwide, beyond the Radio One plays in the UK. That’d be nice.

Justin Bieber’s transformation into a more credible artist took me by surprise. He’s all grown up now, releasing pop music that is actually good (I can’t believe I’m saying this) – even Halsey collaborated with him! We, the TDL team, are a big fan of her work so if nothing else, I must listen when she says it’s cool to listen to the Biebs in 2015. (Editor’s note: He’s growing on me too, belib it or not! :P)

James Bay had mha hart mah sole when it came to male singers with guitar this year. Walk The Moon still stands strong with “Shut Up and Dance” and I couldn’t leave out Twenty One Pilots‘ “Tear In My Heart” because that song is huge and sums up my summer.

I only checked them out because the drummer is Billie Joe from Green Day’s kid. I was curious and I actually got hooked. SWMRS are the baby punks from California that I have high hopes for in future. Check out their song “Miley” – yep, about that Miley, because she’s a punk-rock queen.

Saving the best for last, Good Charlotte ARE BACK and I am the happiest person ever. They were my first favourite band. If you were to know me in 2004, I was “that girl who likes GC.” If Twitter existed back then, I’m sure I would’ve been “that girl with the GC update account.”

Now, click “Play” and listen to what else I liked in 2015!

Stay tuned for more staff picks!
