[Listening Party] Midnight Faces – ‘Heavenly Bodies’

When I first fell in love with the sounds of LA’s Midnight Faces in 2014, they were a strong duo but it looks like adding a new member only made them stronger. Their sophomore record, The Fire Is Gone, was a staple that summer as I navigated the trials of unrequited love and self-discovery as a budding music writer.

After hiding away for a painfully long time, Midnight Faces have re-emerged with their third release, Heavenly Bodies, and I think it’s safe to say that this is the band’s best work yet. Capturing the essence of a perfect night drive filled with 80’s-inspired synth-rock gems, this might as well just be an extended version of the Drive soundtrack we’ve all been waiting for.

Album highlights, “Blue Haze,” “Germanium,”  “All Around You,” and title track, “Heavenly Bodies” delight as listeners get a surprise within each track, making that two year wait absolutely worthwhile!
