[LISTEN] The Academic – ‘Loose Friends’ EP

If you’re not familiar with Mullingar four-piece, The Academic, you might as well start keeping their name in mind. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: these guys might be just at the beginning, but they will take the world by storm. The band released their first single “Different” back in the beginning of this year but today I want you to listen why they’re actually different to any other emerging band.

The Academic finally released their long-awaited debut EP, Loose Friends, on October 30 with five refreshing tracks featuring their already known singles “Different” and “Northern Boy.” The indie quartet is sure building up a sound of their own, and you’ll notice it while you listen through the EP. If I had to pick a word to describe it, ‘refreshing’ comes to mind.

With their debut EP being released also came an exciting announcement, which is kind of a big deal, being one of the few names that were revealed to be performing on next year’s SXSW! Isn’t it cool? That’s why I keep on telling you to keep your eyes (and ears!) on these boys 😉
