[LISTEN] The 1975 – “Love Me”

Following months of teasing with great PR-stunts, The 1975 are back on full force again with a new, fresher sound on “Love Me,” which premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World via BBC Radio 1 and it’s got every right to be it. SO HOT!

The song follows a similar path we’ve heard on “Girls” before so if you loved (well, we still do) dancing around to funky 80’s vibes then here is your next call. It surely has the potential to get everyone up on their feet in a house party setting.

However, don’t let the up-tempo tunes fool you: lyrics like, “I’m with my friends online and there’s things we’d like to change” and, “You look famous, let’s be friends and portray we possess something important” are discussing the state of today’s on & offline culture, pretentiousness, and fame, while also throwing sassy shade. Karcrashian. That’s a nice one you’ve got there.

The band also revealed more details about the sophomore record. It’s expected to be out in February next year, has 17 tracks on it (that’s A LOT. It seems like more and more artists are going with this long album trend nowadays), and they say it’s called I Like It When You Sleep You Look So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It – yeah, we aren’t really sure about it either but it’s longer than all the Fall Out Boy titles ever combined.
