[LISTEN] Alexa Wilding – “Eden”

New York dreamy psych-folk singer, Alexa Wilding, was recently called “the neo Stevie Nicks” by the New York Times and I personally can’t think of a better compliment than that. The singer just released a gorgeous new track titled, “Eden,” off of her forthcoming EP, Wolves, out on July 8.

Wolves was conceived during a rather rough time in the singer’s life as her son, Lou, underwent cancer treatment. Written on a borrowed toy piano, the EP presents a shift from her previous celestial folk stylings and offers a deeper yet surprisingly upbeat poppier sound. Think: In The Valley Below meets Mazzy Star.

“I had yet to come to terms with being a new mother, let alone the crisis I was in the middle of, so I turned to the only thing I knew how to do. I wrote at night, to escape really, revisiting people and places I missed, reliving moments, life on the road, relationships, all pre-motherhood. The songs kept us company, I made peace with the past, and we both made it out alive.”
