September ’15

Hello listeners!

First off, HAPPY SEPTEMBER!! I can’t believe 2015 is almost over. It feels as if I’ve been swept up by a hurricane and I’m just getting settled back into reality. This year has been a rather tumultuous one. So many changes have occurred yet it often feels as if nothing’s changed at all. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and everything The Daily Listening has shared thus far. This month marks our 5 month anniversary! Though I’ve been writing about music for the past three and a half years, I still feel like a rookie. But that’s okay because rookies are awesome and we have a solid community of individuals doing amazing things all by themselves. There’s something to be said about the ones who spend hours working on their craft without having a hand to hold. Figuring out this business can be maddening, but for me, I’m just trying to figure out what works for me. I have no desire to turn this site into something you’ve already experienced. 😉

Fall is almost here and with that comes fall albums and good feels! There really is no better feeling than listening to a new album with the crisp, cool air coming through your window. I recently experienced that rush with Halsey’s “Roman Holiday” off her killer new album, Badlands! Seriously, you guys need to hop on that bandwagon now because she is going to be huge! I’m really looking forward to diving into the new Lana Del Rey (out 9/18) and CHVRCHES (out 9/25) albums this month! I’d love to hear what albums you guys are looking forward to as well.

Our mixtape for this month (see right) is jam-packed with stuff to fall in love with this fall. First track, “Unsaid,” by flor (they’ve literally been all I’ve been listening to this summer) is one of those songs where you keep discovering things about yourself as time progresses. The line, “Comfort can’t help me grow up anyways,” is a perfect depiction of what this year has been like for me – as everything I thought I knew (and wanted) turned out to be false, comfort has felt like a foreign notion. We need to be uncomfortable in order to grow. But sometimes, I’d really wish discomfort would chill out and give me a minute, ya know?

We have a lot of goodies in store for you this month so stay tuned! Thank you for reading, following, tweeting, commenting and most of all, appreciating our stories about music. I will leave you with a quote from my favorite movie, Empire Records – “This music is the glue of the world; it holds it all together. Without this, life would be meaningless.”

Listen. Love. Share. Repeat.

Tina
