[Daily Discovery] DENNY

The ways we discover new music has always fascinated me. The notion that one person can turn you on to your new favorite band is powerful and what we aim for here at The Daily Listening. I stumbled upon Minneapolis’ DENNY via Twitter yesterday afternoon from a tweet by a favorite of ours, COIN. Turns out both bands go way back so we hope this means they’ll be future touring partners.

Formed last summer, DENNY consists of Alexander Rollins (vocals/synth/guitar), Jack Vondrachek (guitar), and Alex Sullivan (drums). First release, “Boyfriend,” is a fast-paced summery anthem you’ll still be obsessing over once the fall takes over in a few weeks.

“‘Boyfriend’ was written after trying for a year to write about one of the worst periods of my life. It’s a three and a half minute metaphor about wishing something hadn’t happened. Or something like that,” stated Rollins.
